Lyla Jane NC's story
Lyla Jane is a 14-lb., 7 to 10-year-old special-needs Boston terrier girl who came into rescue from a shelter after having been used up by a breeder and dumped there. She was a mess when we picked her up. She had warts on her feet, at her rear and tail and on the edges of her ears. The vet said  having a very very bad life, being sick and having a compromised immune system was the reason for the warts. They are much, much better now and we hope they will get better with time.
Lyla is totally blind and has a heart condition for which she takes one medication, benazapril once daily. She had mammary tumors which were removed when she was spayed. She also had a urinary tract infection, but that has since cleared. She was medically neglected for so long and obviously lived her life in a crate. Her spine is arched and she has arthritis in it which can be helped by daily glucosamine supplements. She also has dry eye syndrome which requires eye drops twice a day.
But despite all this, Lyla is a calm sweet girl that likes to be by your side and cuddle under blankets. She loves to sunbathe outside. She needs a little help finding her way around. She likes to chew on dog bones and lick on other dogs and play. She would be good with kids, cats and any dogs.
She does have occasional accidents, but that might get better with time.  Lyla is crate-trained, fully vaccinated,  spayed, heart worm negative and microchipped. Call her foster mom, Sara

, for more information.
Lyla Jane is fostered in the Charlotte, NC, area. Her adoption fee is  $225.
Please use the foster momma or dad's contact information above for questions.
The process always begins with an application which can be found at The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website
Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., 'under 6,' as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma.
We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog.  The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids.   Ask them.
Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.
